We are proud to announce that SOCIO-BEE participated in the 8th International Conference on Smart and Sustainable Technologies – SPlitech 2023, held from June 20th to 23rd, 2023, in Split – Bol, Croatia. Dr. Kotzagianni and Mr Anargyros Roussos from the Municipality of Amaroussion delivered an oral presentation in the Citizen Science session titled “Calibration Strategies for Low-Cost Compact Field Sensors in Citizen Science Air Quality Measurements: Insights from SOCIO-BEE Project.”
The presentation explored the potential of portable air quality sensors in environmental monitoring and emphasized the importance of accurate sensor calibration and validation, particularly in citizen science (CS) experimental campaigns. In the context of the talk, the activities of the SOCIO-BEE project, which took place in the Municipality of Aamroussion, Greece, and in the Municipality of Ancona, Italy, were presented in order to evaluate the performance of the SOCIO-BEE portable sensors and to shed light on opportunities and constraints during the engagement of citizens in such scientific activities.
