ABOUT THE PILOT
The pilot activities of the EU-funded project SOCIO-BEE, which will take place at Municipality of Amaroussion, Greece have the primary goal of informing and raising public awareness on the pressing issue of atmospheric pollution. This will be achieved through the citizens’ active engagement and participation in experimental campaigns involving air quality measurements using small portable devices. From the first large-scale volunteering campaign conducted solely by citizen scientists, significant qualitative and quantitative data on local air pollution levels are expected to emerge. These data will subsequently contribute to:
- Recognizing the extent of the problem not only empirically but also in a comprehensive and documented manner,
- Raising awareness of our exposure and contribution to this issue on an individual and collective level, and finally,
- Highlighting the areas most affected and proposing solutions to address environmental challenges with the aim of improving air quality in our local society.
